Dis-appointed ~ a look at why we are disappointed

It’s inevitable – life hands out disappointments.

I’m disappointed that friends turn their backs. I’m disappointed that apologies don’t come, that help isn’t offered, I’m misunderstood, not invited, overlooked, unappreciated…

I’m disappointed in how I respond, my lack of patience, and my easily frustrated tendencies, my lack of compassion, my harsh responses, my indifferent attitudes, my lack of discipline, my over indulgence and how I waste my time.

On bad days I’m disappointed better days aren’t more prevalent.

On good days I’m disappointed about the bad days.

Then I realize that sometimes I don’t care that I’m disappointed. Somehow I grow comfortable in my lack of excellence.

Then I’m disappointed that I’m not more disappointed.

Anyone?

I have come to understand that deep disappointments in my life, myself, or others come because I am no longer aligned with God’s will. I experience more disappointments when I have rearranged my life so much that I have replaced God’s agenda for my own; when I view Him as an add-on rather than the very reason for my life.

Disappointments come when I have dis-appointed God as priority of my life.

God doesn’t want just a small corner of our lives where we go to meet him a few times a week or even once a day. He placed voids of eternity, a holy hunger, an eternal thirst, in our hearts that only He can fill. He wants to lead our life. He wants to make our life. He wants to BE our life.

He’s the reason we live, the reason we breathe.

He gave us life before we became a thought. He redeems our life when we receive His Son. He sustains our life to this very day. He prefers to give us life into all eternity.

He is our life!

Let’s not dis-appoint Him in it.

Sometimes our expectations are too high or that we expect God to answer our prayer in a certain way at a specific period. But always His answer is better than what we ask for.

    Happy Easter! 🙂

Sweet words. Yes. I think we all relate to disappointment even in ourselves and it is because we’ve taken our eyes off Him. Thanks for the reminder. Found you on Juana’s link up. Blessings on your ministry! Keep running. ~Andy
