Running on Empty {Grace & Truth 27}

**NOTE TO CHRISTIAN BLOGGERS: The invitation at the end of this post is specifically for you!**

Most days I feel like I’m running on empty.

Even the doctor says I need to slow it down and allow my body to rest. I’m not even 30 yet. I’m not supposed to be hearing things like that.

But the fact is, I’m spent.

A lot.

The fact is, I can’t do it all.

I don’t know how to handle that very well.

Another fact is I don’t do so well with asking for help.

And that is pride.

It’s okay to not get all the weeds pulled out of my gardens before company drops in and wants a tour of our homestead.

It’s okay to let someone see the pile of papers on the counter.

It’s okay to say, I need to rest and then go rest, not make a to-do list for the rest of the week.

I’ve written here, here and here about the necessity of rest and doing less. I’m the one needing to do it.

I’m learning that when I acknowledge that I can’t do it all, it’s also easier for me to trust God to fulfill whatever need I have. When my hours are spent in glorifying Him with the words of my mouth, the work of my hands and the wellness of my body, He will multiply my resources.

Time is a resource. I never seem to have enough of it.

By His grace, He has brought me to the end of my abilities so that I could learn to rely more fully on His.

Have you ever been brought to the end of your abilities?

If so, I encourage you to read Kathryn Shirey’s post, “Trusting God to Multiply Your Resources, Even When They Don’t Seem Enough” Click the image below:
