I do a significant amount of gardening to support a healthier diet. So during the summer, my days are filled with dirt under my fingernails, blisters on my hands, tan lines, and callouses.
My kitchen sees sticky canning and freezing messes almost daily, my pressure cooker whistles, the sinks and counters are laden with vegetables and fruits from our garden and orchard, and at the end of it all I hear a series of satisfying pings & pops as the rows and rows of jars seal their yummy goodness inside.
I love it. It’s a lot of hard work, but I love it.
Often as I am working in the garden I think of all the weeds that keep popping up and how they represent the weeds in my own life.
I greatly appreciate Jann’s post called “The Distracted Gardener”. In it she draw the analogy of how the weeds in our gardens steal nutrients from and choke out the good plants, are much like sin when undetected or unobserved will begin to steal and choke out the good things God wants to produce in us.
It’s a beautiful reminder! Take the next two minutes to read and reflect on Jann’s words. your day will be enriched for it. Click the image!
Jann, please grab the featured button and share on your blog! Thank you for sharing your reflections in this post. Blessings!

Thank you for hosting!
Thank you for sharing my post. I love connecting with women who love Jesus! 🙂
I can just imagine the excitement and activity in your harvesting kitchen. I have to be honest and say this is my least favorite part of the gardening process. I love the planting, the tending, and even the weeding… yes…I like weeding. ( though my flower beds are not showing forth the fruit of that confessions) I do it, because I am so thankful later…but I don’t get as excited as I should. Now that my girls are older they can help me.
Thank you for faithfully hosting a place to link up hearts each week.
Blessings on your Preserving!
Dawn
DAwn, the weeding is the hardest for me. I find it interesting that I love the planting and the watering, but pulling those weeds!!
