Finding the Good in Marriage {Grace & Truth #13}

Finding the good in marriage can be hard. Sometimes it’s due to the hard knocks of life, other times it’s due to the fact that maybe, just maybe, my knight in shining shorts… errr, armor! isn’t quite what I expected.

I’ll be honest, sometimes I wish my husband would do more around the house. But, I also have to be honest and say that, I didn’t feel that way until I heard other women brag about how their husband makes the bed, cooks the meals, washes the dishes, folds the laundry, dusts the house, sweeps the floor, and on and on and on.

Just to clarify, that wasn’t all coming from one wife about one husband. More like a different wife for each one listed.

BUT! It left me wondering what I was missing out on?

It left me wondering why my sweet husband doesn’t step it up?

I think you will appreciate this post from Tiffiney at Welcome Home Blog. She touches on this very topic, with a great dose of humor. While it’s not bad to brag on our husband, by all means more of us should, neither should we decide that our husband is a slacker just because he doesn’t do what everyone else’s husband does.

    This made me chuckle because I have had a similar conversation to this. It doesn’t do us any good to compare ourselves to others, and neither does it benefit us to compare husbands. It only breeds discontent which schews our view of them more.
    For years I have asked the Lord to show me my husband through His eyes, it has made such a difference in my abilty to love and respect him.
    I have made a conscience effort, though it took me a while to get here, to start his day with an affirmation of that love and serve him when I would rather serve myself. It seems like a selfless act, when on the contrary I almost feel selfish…my life is better when I pour grace into him.

    Thanks for hosting gracefully!
    Blessings,
    Dawn
