You know those times when you’re in over your head? When you’re not sure what is going on? You’re wondering where God is and just when He will show up?
Yeah, those dark times steal so much from us. They isolate us. They make us question everything we believe. The darkness can creep in and overtake our heart and make it dark and cold like the rest of the world.
Recently, I shared about having peace in the midst of the dark storms of life in this Facebook post:
“Having the peace that passes all understanding…. what does that look like? How can we get to a place of peace?
Life throws a lot of junk at us. None of us are exempt. Death rocks our world. Evil makes us quiver, striking fear in our hearts. People get rude. Flat out mean and ridiculous, sometimes. Harsh words flow, feelings reign, bitterness builds, chaos becomes our adrenaline.
It’s not pleasing to the Lord for us to live in turmoil. It’s not pleasing to Him to see us walking outside of His calming strength, His blessed assurance, His rest.
So today, when the storms rise and the waves swell again, choose to turn to Him. Call out His name. He will send you His peace.
You see, just because you’re in a storm, doesn’t mean the storm needs to be in you. “Greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)”

Those few paragraphs walk you through a beautiful story of how Jesus walks us through the painful times. When we completely surrender to Him we have life to gain. Not just a little life; an abundant life.
