A woman with godly swag, the way in which she presents herself, exudes faithfulness.
She is faithful in body, mind and deed.
King Solomon wrote a whole book about a flamboyant display of love between lovers. A wife is her husbands lover. A wise woman will never jeopardize her husbands trust in her. His heart safely trusts that she reserves her greatest display of love for him and him alone.
A woman of godly swag is also faithful in mind. She allows no evil thoughts against him to take root. She keeps her thoughts pure.
She takes
“captive every thought
to make it obedient to Christ.”
~2 Corinthians 10:5~
Her faithfulness toward her husband includes thinking on things that are
“true…noble…right…pure…lovely…admirable,
anything excellent and praiseworthy.”
~Philippians 4:8~
She thinks only things that are true.
Sometimes the truth hurts. Her husband is a sinner. He will not always do what is right. That is the truth.
But, a faithful minded woman, instead of reacting in anger or disappointment, applies God’s word.
She examines the facts, feels the hurt,….yes, feels the hurt….but through Jesus, responds in faithful forgiveness, extending grace toward her husband.
That is hard. Very hard. But, she knows this to be true:
“I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me.”
~Philippians 4:13~
A godly wife also displays faithfulness through her deeds.
She offers generous hospitality to her husband without grumbling. When she speaks, she does so as though she were speaking the very words of God. (1 Peter 4:9-11)
“She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is always on her tongue.”
~Proverbs 31:26~
She is dependable. Her husband and family know she is capable of accomplishing many tasks, because she uses her time wisely and efficiently. She is reliable and uncomplaining.
A woman, faithful in her work, manages her household with dedication and orderliness, while maintaining a realistic expectation of those around her.
She is never idle, but always present, both emotionally and physically.
Parking on the couch, glued to social media is idleness. While she may still be present in body, social media allows her to leave her home emotionally, leaving room for the enemy to work his evil presence into her home.
It is vital to stay present minded, fully dedicated to her most important ministry – her marriage and family.
So, she girds her waist with a sash of faithfulness and a belt of righteousness. I love the KJV of the next two verses:
“And righteousness shall be the girdle of [her] loins,
and faithfulness the girdle of [her] reins.”
~Isaiah 11:5~
“gird up the loins of your mind,
be sober, and hope to the end
for the grace that is to be brought to you”
~1 Peter 1:13~
Gird. That word is often read in the Old Testament. It means to strap on securely. When armies headed out to battle they would gird on their swords. This meant they would strap them on three times, making them secure for battle.
A wife, girded in faithfulness, is one who leaves no room for the enemy to invade her heart and home.
So, go strap on your weapons, ladies. Be girded in heart, soul and mind.
No one else will fight as hard or as effectively for your husband as you. The one appointed by God to minister to his heart.
Gird up, ladies.
Gird up.

I needed this reminder, "It is vital to stay present minded, fully dedicated to her most important ministry – her marriage and family." Stopping over through Three Word Wednesday.:)
Hi Katie! I think this is the hardest for me. It's so easy to zone out or be half present. To others it comes across as half interested in them. 🙁 I keep thinking this "if I'm only half present now, I can't expect my children to be fully concerned in my elderly years." Be blessed! Thank you for reading!
Great reminders 🙂 When it comes to my husband I always examine myself and think "have I ever disappointed him?" oh yes…..the same grace I want measured for myself, I give to him.
Visiting from #TellHisStory
Blessings!
Cindy @ Smalltowngirl
Always with the same grace as was extended to me…. that's so tough sometimes, but always the right choice. Blessings!
Great post!
I liked: No one else will fight as hard or as effectively for your husband as you. The one appointed by God to minister to his heart.
It is hard to see so many giving up. I think so many are hurt.
Last week I was reminded of women being the moral force in the world and how I need to step that up in my own home… always with love and compassion and the power of truth.
I too, have been convicted of stepping it up in my own home. Also, knowing I need to set the bar higher for myself before I can expect others to follow. …always with love and truth. Thank you for the reminder! Blessings!
This is excellent, Kaylene and well-timed for me. I especially needed the reminder about social media. My motto last week was to blog in such a way that my family had to ask, "Mom, are you still writing?" I did well with the writing part, but probably let social media play too large a role. I'm ready to do what it takes to gird up, to guard my heart and my home. Thanks so much for
Bless you, Tarissa, for your transparency! You and me both, are ready to gird up with faithfulness in mind! So glad you were encouraged. To Him the glory!
My husband and I are reading a book on marriage. I appreciate your words–especially the encouragement to gird up. "No one will fight as hard or as effectively for my husband as I can". Yes!
This is really good advice!
Great post! I believe that being present emotionally and physically in all we do is so important. It is easy to be pulled away by any of the worldly distractions that are being thrown at us. Thank you for the reminders today. Visiting you from Make a Difference Monday. Mary
