Fighting Lies by Thinking Truth {Grace & Truth #21}

If anything is praiseworthy, think about such things, we are told.

But that can be a real struggle sometimes.  With all the chaos and calamity in the world, it’s hard to totally escape all of it. Many of us face situations in our lives that we were unprepared to meet, often causing us to feel swallowed up by them.

But with a God Who has the power to help us overcome, we do not need to be weighed down by the heaviness of this worlds cares. There is a certain amount of care and concern we need to have. But focusing on the fact that God has it all under control will help us be able to rest in the Lord.

Putting Philippians 4:8 into practice has helped me a lot in overcoming unhealthy cares and concerns that our minds can paralyze us with.

“whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, what ever is lovely, what ever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such tings.”

To help you get started in retraining your mind to think on truth, regularly read your bible. If you like Bible studies, I have made a list of ten great books & Bible studies that have mentored me over the years.

    That scripture in Philippians comes to me often when I have to battle the negative thoughts around others and especially when I overthink everything. Choosing to see the good is a very difficult but necessary habit that I have to work hard at maintaining. Thankfully, His grace is abounding and His presence leads me through that.
    Blessings!
