“A life without prayer leads to a land without victory.” This is how my latest soap box ended.
It was one of those things that had been building in me for a time, and possibly the post sounded rough around the edges and a little sassy, but it felt good to speak boldly for a purpose I am so passionate about.
Prayer – the weapon we are told to pick up and wield for the glory of our Heavenly Father; the one thing we as Christians should be able to unite on; the one thing that should build us stronger despite our differences.
My prayer for the members of the body of Christ living in this American land is that we may not be so pro-something/someone that we forget what the body of Christ is truly supposed to be pro about.
A Scripture Guided Prayer to Pray for Your Country
The kingship belongs to the Lord, and He rules over the nations. Psalm 22:28
Give ear, O God, and hear; open Your eyes and see the desolation of [our country]. We do not make requests because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, O my God, do not delay… Daniel 9:18-19
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you. Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be swept away. 1 Samuel 12:24-25
This is what the Lord says, “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on his flesh for strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.” Jeremiah 17:5,7
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Whether it be favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God… so it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God. Jeremiah 42:6
Now be pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever in Your sight; for You, O sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with Your blessing the house of Your servant will be blessed forever. 2 Samuel 7:29
To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy – to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. Jude 24-25
