When I started regular fasting for our marriage, I did so with the attitude of “that man has to change!”
But, fasting is intended to be a much greater experience than just something we put ourselves through in hopes of a granted prayer. It isn’t about getting what we want. It isn’t about getting God to miraculously change that certain person, or getting a specific circumstance fixed overnight.
It isn’t about what we can get from God as much as how we ourselves are transformed.
Fasting changes our heart. Not God’s mind.
Today, I am thankful for my angry, self righteous approach to fasting because it proves to a greater extent the greatness God is working in me.
