Lately I had a song pop into my head that I hadn’t sang or heard in many years.
It’s a happy little number called “The Royal Telephone”by Frederick Lehman. It tells of the communication we can have with Jesus through prayer:
“Telephone to Glory, Oh what joy divine.
I can feel the current moving on the line;
Built by God the Father, for His loved an own,
We may talk to Jesus through this Royal Telephone!”
( Read the lyrics here. )
( Listen to the song here. )
No doubt, you and I use this “Royal Telephone” a lot. The song goes on to say that “Central (God’s ears/Heaven) is never too busy to take our prayers. There is no waiting line, no data limit, no charge…
Prayer is free, fast and effective.
I love that God understood all those years ago that one day His world would be barraged by wireless connections and hotspots, so He made it easy for us to contact Him. Like microwave easy. 4G LTE fast. Whatever that means. (I prefer it though! lol)
The point being, God makes it easy for us to connect and communicate with Him. Jenny Shinskey says it this way:
“We have always had an immediate communication line with God. There has never been the need to mail a letter or send a text message.
The line of communication is always open because He wants to communicate with us.“
It’s not a matter of does God want to. It’s a matter of why don’t we?
I encourage you to go read Jenny’s post on “Three Keys to Intimate Relationship With God”. All of the keys have to do with prayer, and how Jesus demonstrated a tangible way for us to reach Him.
